This week in Randolph County, Illinois, two incidents were bookmarked for the weekly safety report. The first incident involves Tracie Behiter, a former clerk for the Village of Baldwin, who has been charged with theft and official misconduct for allegedly stealing over $60,000 from the village. The second incident pertains to Shawn Porter, who is facing a first-degree murder charge after allegedly pouring a combustible fluid on Donald Steibel, resulting in serious burns and Steibel's subsequent death.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning by NWS
Instruction: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of southwestern Illinois, including east central Monroe County, northeastern Randolph County, and southeastern St. Clair County. The warning will be in effect until 5:00 PM CDT. At 4:17 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was identified over Baldwin, moving southeast at 5 mph. The storm is expected to bring hazards such as 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. The radar indicated the presence of these hazards. Vehicles may experience hail damage, while roofs, siding, and trees may be subject to wind damage. The following locations are expected to be impacted: Sparta, Red Bud, Marissa, Baldwin, Preston, Blair, Prairie, Lenzburg, Hecker, and Houston. Radar indicated a maximum hail size of 1.00 inch, and the maximum wind gust is estimated to be 60 mph.
