Woman dies after colliding with dump truck in Wake County crash

A car appeared to be pinned under a dump truck following a crash along Louisburg Road in northern Wake County on Thursday. Firefighters, paramedics and state troopers were at the scene.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman was killed in a violent crash at a busy intersection in Wake County on Thursday afternoon.

Sky 5 flew over the scene as a car appeared to be pinned under a dump truck after a driver failed to yield while making a turn.

Crews were working at the intersection of Louisburg Road and Forestville Road around 4:30 p.m. A Honda sedan was crushed under the truck's front tires along the shoulder of the road.

A woman died in Wake County on Thursday.

Highway Patrol confirmed to WRAL News that a woman in her 20s died in the crash. The northbound lanes of Louisburg Road were closed but have now reopened.

A trooper said the driver of the truck was headed north and the driver of the sedan failed to yield while making a left turn.

Firefighters, paramedics and state troopers were at the scene. Tire marks were visible under the stop light.

The driver of the dump truck is expected to recover. The truck had a Perry's Hauling logo on the door. Perry's Hauling is based in Henderson.
