A man has died from an overnight shooting in Raleigh, according to police.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man has died from an overnight shooting in Raleigh, according to police.

Raleigh police found a man had been shot in the head around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Boyer Street and St. Augustine Avenue.

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Around noon, police told WRAL News the man had died.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are not known. The man has not been identified yet by officials.

Around 11 a.m., crime scene tape was up along St. Augustine Avenue and several police cars were still on scene.

A homicide investigation is ongoing.
