FLORIDA — A strong fall cold front is moving through Florida on Saturday, October 17, bringing gusts of 35 to 45 mph. North winds will pull in much cooler air, dropping feels-like temperatures into the 40s and 50s across northern Florida by Sunday morning. The change follows a hot Friday, when feels-like readings topped 100 degrees in South Florida. Areas farther south will feel less of the cooldown and may see rain and storms instead.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A cold front will arrive late tonight, with only one or two stray showers ahead of it, and windy and cooler conditions rapidly following it. Weekend highs will only rise into the low to mid 70s, while morning lows will fall to near 60 Saturday morning, but low to mid 50s Sunday morning. Saturday’s winds will be from the north or northeast at 15 to 25 mph, but with higher gusts. Over the gulf waters, a Gale Warning is in effect for winds from the north or northeast at 20 to 30 kts with higher gusts. A few clouds will mix with sunshine, but only a very small chance exists for a stray shower, mainly over eastern areas Saturday through Monday.

Not only will afternoon temperatures drop into the 70s, but windy conditions will quickly move in early Saturday morning, and we could see gusts of 30 mph or higher Saturday afternoon. After that, it will still be breezy at times into early next week, with lows back into the 50s and highs still in the 70s.

N. Florida gets first blast of fall with 'open window' weather, wind

After weeks of hurricane concerns, tropical humidity and temperatures flirting with 90 degrees, North Florida is about to get its first true taste of fall. A strong cold front will sweep through the Tallahassee area late Friday, bringing a dramatic temperature drop, gusty winds and much drier air for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee. Forecasters say Friday's highs will once again climb into the upper 80s, reaching about 89 degrees in Tallahassee, before conditions change quickly overnight. By Saturday, temperatures are expected to struggle out of the low 70s, with overnight lows dropping into the low 50s and remaining there into next week. The weather service described the upcoming pattern as "windy and 'open your windows' cool," with highs falling below normal for mid-October and little to no chance of rain. Instead, residents will notice a sharp shift in wind and temperature. Winds are expected to turn out of the north overnight Friday and increase to 20-25 mph, with gusts between 30 and 35 mph across much of the region. While Tallahassee is expected to experience gusts of around 30 to 35 mph Saturday, the strongest winds are forecast across parts of the Florida Panhandle
