UF, FSU join Early Decision trend
Seniors applying to colleges this year will likely find themselves with one more admissions option than usual: Early Decision (ED). The two colleges in Florida that receive the most applications, the University of Florida and Florida State University, have both added this admission plan to their application for the Fall 2027 application cycle. This plan, an increasingly popular application option for universities around the nation, stipulates that students may only apply to one school with ED, and, if admitted, must attend and rescind all applications to other colleges. (ED is not a legally binding contract, but breaking the agreement can carry consequences like blacklisting.) Applicants must complete applications earlier than they would in Regular Decision (RD), often in November, but receive an earlier decision.
