At the birthplace of pickleball, talks open on potential for covered court facility
The birthplace of pickleball features both indoor courts and outdoor courts. What Bainbridge Island is not home to, currently, is covered outdoor courts. That could change in future years as the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park District board of commissioners heard a preliminary presentation Thursday focused on the potential for covered pickleball courts to be added to the landscape. Two sites are being pitched: Battle Point Park or Strawberry Hill Park. The presentation, led by Bainbridge Island Pickleball board of directors co-chair Melissa Bang-Knudsen and two others, was a first step in unveiling proposed expansion ideas.
