Muscatine’s Pearl City Vintage Market in October Opens Saturday
The Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry presents the 4th Annual Pearl City Vintage Market along Muscatine’s Riverfront on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM! The market will feature vendors with a variety of handmade, vintage, repurposed, and curated goods. The event is free and has something for everyone to enjoy including live music from the Pickled Beats and Bobby Ray Bunch, a fall-inspired bar, kids craft tent, food trucks, photo-op by the world’s largest watermelon sculpture, and more!
‘Shrek: The Musical’ Coming To Davenport’s Adler Theatre Thursday Night

Tony Award-winning duo Jeanine Tesori (music) and David Lindsay-Abaire (book) revisit their first collaboration to deliver a more intimate and engaging experience – a joyful, colorful SHREK that leans into the humanity in all of us that celebrates our differences. With all-new original direction and choreography by Danny Mefford (Choreographer, Dear Evan Hansen) filled with lush orchestrations, this reimagined production brings the show back to its roots – giving it a new kind of love emphasizing the importance of loving ourselves and one another.

One Human Family of the QCA, a community-based human rights organization, will offer that opportunity in a fun way — and help raise funds to strengthen community mental health services — during the Social Justice “Peace Train” Sing-along and free dinner from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at The Diner at the Freight House Farmers Market, 421 River Drive, Davenport.
The Odyssey Experience Playing at Davenport Junior Theatre
The Odyssey Experience is playing at Davenport Junior Theatre from Saturday, October 12th through October 20th at 1 & 4pm on Saturdays, and 3pm on Sundays. Visit Quad Cities Brings Major League Fishing Event to the Mississippi River
Visit Quad Cities will host the 2024 Major League Fishing Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Regional Championships will be held on October 10-12, 2024, in Rock Island, Illinois. This highly anticipated tournament will feature four of the 24 divisions across the country, with 160 boats (160 anglers and 160 co-anglers) competing on Mississippi River pools 13-17. Some participants will begin arriving for practice days starting on October 5.
Quad Cities Awarded 2028 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Regional Championship
The NCAA has awarded the 2028 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Regional Championship to the Quad Cities for the 2027-28 season. The championship, hosted by Visit Quad Cities in partnership with the University of Iowa and the University of Illinois, will take place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois from May 7-10, 2028.

Illinois Congressman Sorensen Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Expand the Use of Hydrogen
Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), alongside Congressman Marc Molinaro (NY-19), Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13), Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02), and Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) introduced the bipartisan Hydrogen for Industry Act, which creates a program for hydrogen to be used to produce building materials such as steel, cement, glass, chemicals, and fuel.
WIU Athletics Selected for NCAA Accelerating Academic Success Program Grant
Western Illinois University Athletics has been selected to receive an NCAA Accelerating Academic Success Program (AASP) Grant of nearly $90,000. These competitive grants are awarded to assist schools in creating programs and systems to enhance the academic success and holistic experience of student-athletes. WIU student-athletes’ retention and graduation rates, a year-long holistic review of athletics’ compliance and academic procedures, interviews with student-athletes, academic advisors, coaches, and faculty, and input from the Academic Progress Rate Improvement Team, comprised of WIU administrators and staff, was used to develop the grant application.
