Dozens of citations issued in targeted I-64 patrols in Putnam

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) —
Dozens of citations were issued in Putnam County over the weekend during a two-day blitz patrol on Interstate 64.

Targeting speed and aggressive driving, the patrols monitored drivers traveling the interstate work zone between Scott Depot to Nitro, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.
During the four-hour patrols, officers issued 50 speeding citations, one for suspended operator’s, three insurance violations and one for cell phone usage.

The sheriff’s office said the state Division of Highways in conjunction with the Region 2 Highway Safety Program requested the patrols.
