Putnam County Sheriff’s Office warns community of suspected law enforcement impersonator

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has notified the community of a possible law enforcement impersonator.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5′10″ tall with a thin build. The suspect drives a black Dodge Charger with no law enforcement markings.

The vehicle reportedly has red and white flashing lights and has made at least one attempt to stop a motorist in western Putnam County. PCSO stated that the subject tried to stop the motorist by pulling in front of them.

Please know that all law enforcement vehicles in Putnam County have blue or blue and red lights, not just red lights. Also, trained law enforcement officers do not attempt to stop vehicles by pulling in front of them.

PCSO Deputy Sheriff’s will show you photo identification if you request. If you feel like you are being pulled over by a law enforcement impersonator, please call 911 immediately.
