Knights fall in extra innings dropping their first state championship series since 1988

PEARL, Miss. (WTOK) - West Lauderdale falls to Purvis 3-2 after 10 innings snapping their 14 year streak of state championship wins when in a championship series.

Brett Busbea came into pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning with the bases loaded for Purvis. The 4A Mr. Baseball and game MVP, JoJo Parker hit a pop up sac fly to score the third baseman to win the game for the Tornadoes.

The Knights had previously won all 14 of their state championship appearances dating back to 1988.

West Lauderdale ends their season as the 2023 state runner ups.
