4 Steps to Overcoming Procrastination
Procrastination is a very serious issue for some people. I pride myself on being a hard worker and in general, don’t mind working long hours. Still, there are times when I don't feel like getting work done. I hate to admit it, but I procrastinate too. We all have those days, but for some of us, procrastination is a chronic problem. Some of us seem to be born that way too. Neither my daughter nor son likes to do chores, but my daughter is able to bite her teeth and struggle through it while my son just delays and delays anything he needs to do. It shows up with school work too. Both my kids go to after-school math lessons and they both hate it. However, my daughter is able to do her work on her own because she just wants to get it over with while I have to constantly remind my son to get the homework done every single week. For some people, procrastination is something that occurs far more often than they would like.

If it hasn’t already, online shopping’s popularity exploded by the time the pandemic shut down large parts of the economy. It’s becoming so popular for nearly anything imaginable that you can pretty much order anything without leaving your house these days. Really, what can’t you buy on the Internet these days? One of my friends just told me they ordered dinner the other night and instead of having cooked food delivered, the restaurant sent two guys to set up shop in their backyard and cooked the food fresh right there. He said the meal tasted even better than if they went to the restaurant.
Eight Ways for Seniors to Save Every Day
Many seniors live with a fixed or limited income. What’s worst is that this fixed income isn’t adjusted for inflation, which means that they are losing purchasing power year in and year out. This makes meeting everyday expenses a significant challenge. I know many seniors who are struggling, and it seems like many seniors they know are struggling too. How can they get more for their money and stretch those precious dollars a little further?

Many people are confounded and intimidated at the prospect of choosing wine. There are so many varies that few other consumables are imbued with its mysterious aura. We often feel ill-equipped to competently choose wine, mistakenly believing that there’s some secret quality that makes expensive wines “better” than less costly ones. The average consumer simply doesn’t need to spend a fortune to enjoy it. However, discovering perfectly lovely wines that will fit in our budgets does take a bit of knowledge and trial and error. Are You Preparing for Retirement?
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to be ready for the future. While there’s no way to predict what the future holds or completely prepare against every eventuality, you still need to do your best to prepare your finances against what might be difficulties that could sink your finances. Creating an emergency fund is one way to do that. Another way is to prepare for retirement.
3 Ways to Teach Kids About Money Every Day
I have an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, and one of my biggest challenges is to equip them to be successful in life. I want them to not only be able to earn money, but I want to provide them with lessons that will help them better manage money now and in the future too.
Use What You Know to Make More Money
What's going on inside your head? Do you have knowledge that others would pay to learn? Many of us don't realize it, but we have information that someone else can benefit from. If you know a lot about something, or if you are good at something (even if it's just a hobby right now), it might be possible for you to turn it into a side hustle and earn some money.
Stop Paying Extra for the Brand?
When was the last time you purchased a particular cosmetic or brand of over the counter drug just because of the name brand? Is your favorite brand of coffee-based solely on taste and quality or is it more based on appeal and popularity? We are a culture that is much too obsessed with appearance, and way too easy to brainwash with advertising. You don't have to go far to see this trait - probably not much farther than your own spending. My dad, for instance, flat out refuses to take generic equivalents. Consider these following categories and whether you might be paying for the name rather than the product.
How a Simple Shopping List Can Save You Big
Uh-oh...your cupboards are looking bare. Time to hit the grocery store. You’ve got your wallet at the ready so out the door you go, prepared to stock up your fortress. But wait — where’s your shopping list? You didn’t make one? Big mistake.
3 Easy, Cheap and Fun Crafts for Dreary Winter Days
Winter days can test even the most patient parents. While parents everywhere are getting better at coping with kids stuck at home full of energy, children who have been trapped indoors for even one cold, wet, dark day tend to bounce off the walls and make the house seem anything but cozy. Smart parents know to stock up on inexpensive supplies that can be turned into all sorts of fun and engrossing arts and crafts projects, but we have already been locked down for a year and every parent can use some more suggestions. Here are three of my kid’s favorites.
7 Ways to Save on Kid’s Clothing
You can spend a fortune on kid’s clothes if you’re not careful. It’s easy to go overboard when the outfits are so cute. The thing that gets me is the shoes. It seems like every kid's running shoes are so, so cute. How can anyone resist giving their child the very best? But think about it for a second. Unless you are extremely wealthy, there are probably much better ways to spend your cash than on clothes your child will only wear for a year or two (if you’re lucky!). The good news is that the kiddos can still look cute and fashionable without draining your wallet. Here are a few suggestions for getting the most for your money.
Haggling for More with Less
A lot of Americans are uncomfortable with the idea of haggling over the price of an item they're purchasing. But in many other countries and cultures, haggling is not only widely practiced; it’s expected. Enter the foreign souvenir vendor: he quotes a ridiculously high price. You go really low. He comes down a little, and you eventually meet in the middle somewhere between his desired price and what you agree to pay. In foreign cultures, in particular, you'll end up paying too much for anything you don't haggle for since prices are set for this process.
You Over-Spent on Christmas: Now What?
Christmas came and went by in a flash for me this year. I’m not sure if it’s because we were locked down and that meant that most days were remarkably similar, or it’s because I’m just getting older and everything seems to fly by much more quickly. Still, the only thing I remember from this past holiday season is the credit card bills that are starting to come due.
Saving or Making Money with Police Auctions
As a frugal shopper, you’re adept at finding bargains in typical retail situations. There’s a level beyond frugal, however. Some shoppers are able to root out extraordinary bargains on valuable merchandise that far exceeds the average “good deal” pricing that most folks are thankful to find.

Don't Let High Prescription Costs Make You Sick
Prescription medications, when covered by a good insurance plan, can be affordably priced so that their costs can be taken into account when budgeting. When they’re not covered by insurance, however, the price of prescriptions can blow a budget completely out of whack. The fact is, some medications are so expensive that most patients simply cannot afford them without insurance, rendering them unable to adequately manage their health and well being.
8 Reasons Why Layaway Might Not Be the Best Choice
When I was a child growing up on a military base with limited shopping options, layaway was a fact of life. Not only did our mother use layaway to buy our Christmas presents and school clothing, but we’d also use it to snap up the latest fashions before our sizes sold out when we ourselves turned into teenagers. Using layaway was an affordable way to spread out the cost of purchases without using credit cards.
Turning Your Hobby into a Money-Making Side Hustle
Engaging in a hobby can be a relaxing and rewarding way to spend leisure time. Those who utilize their talents to create often make beautiful, useful, or even tasty things for which others are willing to pay. That can turn a hobby into a tidy side hustle, bringing in some extra cash. Hobbyists may not ever be able to quit their day job and support themselves with the proceeds of selling the products of their hobby, but it can certainly add some money to the coffers while providing a relaxing and creative outlet.
