The Good – BYU returns three top wide receivers in Kody Epps, Chase Roberts, and Keanu Hill. Those three bring different skillsets to the table, and they all have the talent to be contributors in the Big 12. If these three are healthy, BYU quarterbacks Kedon Slovis will have three experienced wide receivers to rely on.

Chase Roberts

Roberts, Epps, and Hill have shown flashes of being a P5 starting caliber wide receivers during their BYU careers. Chase Roberts exploded onto the scene last year against Baylor. Roberts tallied 122 receiving yards on 8 receptions, including a toe-tap touchdown before halftime and a corner route on the final drive to set up the game-winning field goal.

Kody Epps was BYU's leading receiver last year before he left the Liberty game with an injury. In a three-week stretch against Utah State, Notre Dame, and Arkansas, Epps tallied 311 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Epps was able to routinely get open and rack up yards after the catch.

Keanu Hill is coming off a career-high 572 receiving yards in 2022. His best game came against Wyoming last year where he racked up 160 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Bad – The aforementioned starting wide receivers have dealt with their fair share of injuries. After those three, BYU is inexperienced at wide receiver. BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick hasn't been shy about the Cougars' intentions in the next transfer window - BYU hopes to add 1-2 more wide receivers to this group.

The Future – BYU's future is bright at wide receiver. BYU has signed some very talented wide receivers that will join the program in the next 12 months. 2023 signee Jojo Phillips is set to join the program in the Summer. Phillips, who is listed at 6'5, held competing Power Five offers from the likes of Pitt, Oregon, LSU, Michigan State, Colorado, Oregon State, and Boston College when he committed to the Cougars

Four-star recruit and 2022 signee Cody Hagen racked up 51 touchdown receptions in his high school career and he is one of the fastest 100M sprinters to come through the state of Utah. Hagen picked BYU over fellow finalists Utah, USC, and Stanford.

Last but not least, legacy signee Dom McKenzie is set to join the program once he returns from his mission. McKenzie picked BYU over a bevy of P5 suitors including Arizona, Pitt, Virginia, and Oregon. Mckenzie left to serve his mission in February 2022 and is scheduled to return in time for the 2024 season.
