UPDATE: Maine Water Company crew digs six feet under Mountain Street in Camden to repair ruptured pipe
Maine Water Company crews are digging down approximately six feet into the base of Mountain Street in Camden to access the old cast iron water main pipe that burst during the overnight hours of Sept. 10 and repair it. But first, they have to cut through a six- to eight-inch layer of concrete and rebar that was likely laid down during the 1950s, when Mountain Street was improved by the Maine Department of Transportation. It has been slow-going to get through the concrete and rebar, but Maine Water anticipates that customers in the immediate area will have restored water in several hours, as of 10:30 a.m., Sept. 10.
