PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — Three members of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore bowling squad picked up College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades this week.

Seniors Elizabeth Ross (Schenectady, New York) and Brooke Roberts (Port Orange, Florida) along with junior Gabriella Ochoa Hubbard (Nogales, Sonora, Mexico) all picked up CSC honors.

"All three of them have their unique differences," Hawks head coach Roger Petrin said. "One thing that the three all have in common is that they are all great time managers. Brooke may be the weakest of the three and she hardly ever misses anything. I'm not sure Gabby has ever been late to anything in her life and if she even thinks she's running behind she lets me know those things."

Roberts is a Pre-Vet major, Student Athlete Advisory Committee member and a member of the Pre-Vet club. She received First-Team honors from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for the second straight year. She was a National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Region performer and Honorable Mention All-American.

Hubbard picked up her first All-MEAC honors this year — Second-Team — and is a Rehabilitation Psychology major.

Ross — an Aviation Sciences major — is the only one of the three who will not return next season after graduating this spring. She also received NTCA All-Region accolades and was Second-Team All-MEAC for the second time. She earned both her pilot's license and her Certified Flight Instructor license and is working as a flight instructor at Bay Land Aviation in Salisbury, Maryland.

"Liz in particular was studying to be a pilot and with that came a lot of training hours and class time on top of being an athlete," Petrin said. "So she was not only training for a sport, but to be a pilot all while travelling during the bowling season and being in class. For her the time management skills involved in doing all of this was at a premium."
