Salisbury Zoo’s Pinocchio to Leave for Nashville
SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury Zoo has announced that their male Andean bear Pinocchio is heading to the Nashville Zoo on a breeding loan. Pinocchio, 10 years old, was recommended for the loan by the Species Survival Plan. Delmarva Today 5-26-23 The Wicomico River
The Wicomico River: The Soul of Salisbury is an examination the environmental importance of this river to the region. This documentary is a collaboration of the Delmarva Public Media staff with the Salisbury University's Environmental Studies Program to create the student-led audio documentary exploring key environmental topics related to the Wicomico River. The 11 students in Dr. Michael Lewis's Environmental Studies Seminar learned how to be reporters, interviewers and editors under the mentorship of Delmarva Public Media's Bryan Russo, director of production and operations, and Matthew Heim, deputy general manager & development director. The resultant piece by these new storytellers is an intriguing and insightful work which strengthens our commitment to producing local program. The project was funded with grants from the Chesapeake Bay Trust and City of Salisbury.
Showell Elem. Class Publishes Book
SNOW HILL – A book written by local second graders will soon be helping students across the world appreciate the ocean. A book written and illustrated by students in Mackenzie Keyser’s class at Showell Elementary School during the 2020-2021 school year is now being published. Proceeds from the book will support the Kelly Slater Foundation, which raises awareness and provides funding for environmental causes.
