Weekly Safety Report: Kitchen Fire and Theft Incidents in Hayden, Idaho
This week in Hayden, Idaho, two incidents occurred that required attention from local authorities. In the first incident, a family of nine and their dog were forced to evacuate their home due to a kitchen fire. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and were able to rescue the family's dog. The fire was extinguished within minutes with the assistance of multiple fire stations. The Red Cross is providing support to the affected family. In the second incident, a theft took place at LA Aluminum. Two suspects were captured on surveillance footage loading pallets into a truck before fleeing the scene.
Hunters find human remains in northern Idaho north of Rathdrum, name of person and cause of death unknown
KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office in northern Idaho has reported that human remains were discovered Monday morning, November 27. KCSO along with the Kootenai County Coroner’s Office responded to a remote area of Timber Ridge Road, located between Spirit Lake and Twin Lake north of Rathdrum at 9:48am, after receiving a call from a group of hunters who were on their private property and located the remains.

Kootenai County detective asks public to help locate suspect involved in damaging property
KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help locating a suspect involved in damaging property. On Nov. 8 around 3:54 a.m., a suspect was seen on surveillance footage in the 9300 block of north Government Way in Hayden. STATE TIMBER SALE CR200404, SUNDANCE KID A public oral auction will be conducted at the Idaho Department of Lands office, 2550 Highway 2 W., Sandpoint, ID 83864, at 9:00 a.m. local time, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 for an estimated 4,900 MBF of timber marked or otherwise designated for cutting. In addition, there is an unestimated volume of forest products that may be removed at the option of the purchaser. Prior to bidding, eligible bidders shall present a certified check or bank draft payable to Idaho Department of Lands, or a bid bond acceptable to the State, in the amount of $149,992.35 which is 10% of the appraised net sale value of $1,499,923.50. The successful bidder’s deposit will be forfeited to the State should the bidder fail to complete the contract. The State will not accept bids from parties who are delinquent on payments on existing state contracts. The average starting minimum bid price is $327.53 per MBF. The sale is located within Section 5, Township 60N, Range 01W; and Sections 30 & 32, Township 61N, Range 01W, B.M., Boundary County, State of Idaho. Sale duration is 3 years. The sale may include blowdown and/or insect and disease infected timber which may result in additional volume and recovery reductions. Interested purchasers should carefully examine the sale and make their own estimates as to volume recovery, surface conditions, and proposed construction prior to bidding on the sale.
