WATCH: Georgia 2nd Congressional District Republican Debate
AMERICUS, Ga. (WTVM/WALB) - The four Republican candidate’s for Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District gathered for a debate in Americus on Monday, May 13. The debate was held in partnership with both WTVM (Columbus, GA) and WALB (Albany, GA) with representatives from both stations serving as panelists. Dr. Jason Berggren of Georgia Southwestern State University served as the moderator.

NORMAN, Okla. — NCAA Division II PING All-Region honorees were announced on Thursday afternoon by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Players across eight regions earned all-region honors in 2024. Erik Fogel and Payne Sells from Georgia Southwestern State University were named to the NCAA DII PING Southeast All-Region team.

GSW Introduces Missy Tiber as new women's head basketball coach
AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) - Just over five years ago the Georgia Southwestern State (GSW) women’s basketball program shifted. In four seasons Justin Payne took the Lady Canes to new heights. A conference title and a Sweet 16 appearance was just the beginning. Hana Haden elevated the program again in the 2023-2024 season with another Peach Belt Conference championship and lead the program to the elite 8 for the first time in school history.
Albany Rotary Club awards four scholarships
ALBANY — The Albany Rotary Club has announced the awarding of four student scholarships for $2,000 each. Candence McClung from Lee County High School will be attending Harris College. Her aspiration is to become a large-animal veterinarian. She has received numerous awards in academic and citizenship. She also participated in sports, Lee County FFA, National Honor Society and National Beta Club.
