3 counties to host Deer Advisory Council meetings on Monday
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - Deer Advisory Councils in Portage, Marathon and Vilas County will gather Monday to discuss what this fall’s deer season should look like. Each county in Wisconsin has a County Deer Advisory Council to provide input to the department on deer management within their county. Councils work with local department staff to review population data and deer impacts on forests and agriculture. That information is used to develop three-year plan on county population objectives and create annual antlerless harvest quotas.

At the Lac du Flambeau Annual Town Meeting, Steve Klingaman, a resident, not a board supervisor, made the motion. “With your permission, I would like to make a motion that the Lac du Flambeau town board expand from three seats to five, beginning in the 2025 election cycle,” said Klingaman in audio of the meeting given to WXPR.
