PRESCOTT – It was opening day for the Nevada County Farmer’s Market Friday.

There was  a good crowd as people came for fresh vegetables. There were new potatoes, onions, cucumbers, zucchini and squash. However, other vendors were on hand selling fresh eggs, jams, jellies and pickles. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce set up shop and handed out free bags of popcorn, along with handing bags to the farmers so they could use them for their wares.

People came and went, getting what they wanted. However, it will still be at least two weeks before the first tomatoes are ready. When they are, it will have been worth the wait.
