PRATTVILLE – Law enforcement officers are looking for a passenger who they say ran after a traffic stop Thursday morning in east Prattville.

At about 7:30 a.m., an Alabama state trooper attempted to pull over a 1989 Chevrolet pickup, said Sgt. Jeremy Burkett, a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The passenger bolted from the truck and ran into nearby woods, which resulted in a foot pursuit and search of the area.

The driver, a 16-year-old juvenile, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm and being a minor in possession of a pistol. Law enforcement will continue to search and monitor the area for the passenger, who was not captured. The traffic stop occurred near Interstate 65 at Cobbs Ford Road in Prattville, within Elmore County.
