Robber arrested after homeowner shoots, kills alleged partner in crime, officials say

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said a man has turned himself in following a deadly shooting tied to an attempted robbery in October of 2022.

Deputies said Kayden Joseph Killian is charged with second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, criminal conspiracy/armed robbery, possession of fentanyl, possession of Clonazolam, and possession of marijuana.

According to APSO, Killian conspired with Travis Richardson to rob a male at a home on John Broussard Road in Prairieville.

Killian and Richardson traveled together to the home and attempted to carry out the robbery, deputies said. They added that during that time, the intended target of the robbery opened fire on Killian and Richardson, who deputies said was also armed with a firearm.

Richardson was killed in the gunfire, according to APSO. Deputies said Killian was able to get away from the scene.

The intended target of the robbery has been interviewed by law enforcement, deputies said. They added that he has been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and illegal carrying of weapons.
