A barn north of Prairieburg was destroyed by a fire on Monday morning.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to a structure fire at 5607 Prairieburg Road around 9:30 am. Fire departments from Prairieburg, Central City and Monticello also responded.
The property owners, Joseph and Anita Sperfslage, had reported smoke coming from the barn.
When they arrived, responders found a barn on the property fully engulfed in flames and smoke. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to an adjacent structure.
There was no loss of life or injuries reported with this fire.
The cause of the fire is not known, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
