Mountain snow rapidly melts over Oregon, Washington after record summer-like heat
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Summer heat returned to the Pacific Northwest in a big way over the weekend and the Cascade mountains felt the heat. Record-breaking 90s returned to the greater Portland-Vancouver metro area Friday, but even higher elevations felt the seasonal change. Mt. Hood Meadows experienced afternoon highs in the mid-50s. Those temps-above-freezing over the weekend rapidly started to melt the Cascades’ snowpack over the weekend.
