Powder Springs Man Accused of Stabbing a Woman

A Powder Springs man is accused of stabbing a woman.

Damionne Giovannis Brooks, 30, is accused of stabbing a woman twice in the upper left chest on May 21 at 1 a.m. at 4049 Sharon Woods Drive in Powder Springs. He is also accused of breaking the victim’s nose while she was defending herself, according to an arrest warrant from the Powder Springs Police Department.

Brooks stated that he was going to kill the victim and then himself. The victim was able to get the first knife away from Brooks. He then obtained three more from the kitchen and the victim was able to wrestle away from him but sustained a defensive wound on her left hand from taking the knife away. Brooks then retrieved a fourth knife and stabbed the victim, according to the warrant.

Brooks is charged with two counts of aggravated battery disfigure; possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime; two counts of criminal trespass damage; and aggravated assault – intent to murder. He was arrested May 24 at 2 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.

Brooks remains in custody, without bond.
