Review: Rossignol Evader Men's Jacket and Pants

It turns out both my own and Powder Gear Editor Max Ritter's first ski jackets were from Rossignol, so clearly they’ve been making outerwear for a LONG time now. Until recently though, it was a much more common sight in Europe than in North America, but that is slowly changing with a stacked team and some unique products. The new Evader Jacket and Pants come from the freeride end of their lineup, offering technical specs but in a much more comfortable, almost softshell-like package.

We liked the layout of the Evader jacket more than the similar women's Corbets kit, with better pocket options on the Evader. There’s one extra chest pocket and a better internal drop pocket too. The pit vents are unlined for better airflow and bigger than on the women’s jacket. It still feels warm but has better airflow options for hot days. The fabric feels both burly and comfortable, making this feel like a great daily resort jacket that would last a few seasons.

The pants feature strategically-placed microfleece panels (including on the seat, to keep your cheeks warm), hip pockets and offer decent storage for a phone, ski pass, snacks, and other on-mountain accessories. The kick panels are pretty burly on these and in all, they feel like a well-made product. Both jacket and pants have water-resistant and breathable 3L construction but it isn’t crinkly like some, which we really liked. It's not as weatherproof Gore-Tex Pro, but the soft feel and comfortable cut will be attractive to many, especially anyone who mostly skis when the weather is nice out.

Who is the Rossignol Evader Kit for?

Neither jacket nor pants are particularly light, so we think these are more suited to the resort than for missions deep into the backcountry. They are packable, but not as easily as thinner, more technical kits. Skiers who frequent cold places or regularly find themselves getting cold on the hill will love these. This was the warmest men’s kit we tried at our 2024 Sunshine Village test.

Fit guide:

Both the jacket and pants are fit very true to size, with what most would consider a "regular" fit. Size up for a more relaxed look, since the pants cinch well on the waist. They do have a narrower fit overall though, so they aren’t ever going to look too wide.
