Buhler replaces Keystone Resort's former vice president and general manager, Chris Sorensen, who's overseen the resort since 2021. He left his position in June 2024

“Vail Resorts has an incredible pool of talented and passionate individuals within our network of world-class resorts, and Shannon Buhler truly exemplifies our leadership philosophy in action,” said Nadia Guerriero, senior vice president and COO of Vail Resorts’ Rocky Mountain Region. Both Stowe Mountain Resort and Keystone Resort are owned by Vail Resorts—the purveyors of the Epic Pass.

“Her 20 years of service in the ski industry has had an inspiring impact on a diverse set of teams across six resorts, and we look forward to the impact she will have as the next leader of Keystone Resort,” Guerriero added.

Buhler first began working within the Vail Resorts network in product sales and services at Breckenridge Mountain, Colorado, nearly 20 years ago. Since then, she’s held several positions at Vail Resorts, including heading up Keystone Resort’s product sales and services team between 2018 and 2020. Her first resort general manager position came in the summer of 2020 when she was appointed to take the reigns at Snow Creek Ski Area, Missouri.

Buhler is the Co-Lead of Vail Resorts’ company-wide Women & Allies Employee Resource Group (ERG). According to a recent press release from Vail Resorts, she is a champion and advocate for diversity within the company and the industry. At Keystone Resort, she'll become one of four female general managers leading Vail Resorts ski areas in the Rockies Mountain Region, out of six total.

“Keystone Resort has a talented and passionate team, and a wonderful community, which is why I’m so grateful for the opportunity to return,” Buhler said.

Keystone Resort is slated to be one of the first ski areas open in North America. It plans to start spinning the lifts in mid-October, weather and conditions permitting.
