POWAY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Dozens of firearms were stolen from a sporting goods store Monday in Poway, authorities said.

The burglary occurred in the early morning hours at Poway Weapons & Gear Range on Danielson St., Detective Justin Cole with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in news release Wednesday.

Four suspects used a stolen Hyundai Elantra to ram the front entrance to the sporting goods store, according to authorities. The suspects then grabbed as many guns as they could to fit into duffle bags, abandoned the stolen car and left the location in another vehicle described as a late model silver SUV, per the sheriff’s department.

Detectives learned the vehicle was registered out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Law enforcement agencies there were able to find the vehicle at a home in Las Vegas, where several vehicles were stopped leaving the home. Authorities recovered several reported firearms from Poway Weapons & Gear Range. A SWAT team also conducted a search at the home, finding more than 30 firearms stolen from the sporting goods store.

One suspect is in custody in Las Vegas at this time, authorities said.
