PORTSMOUTH — The 22nd annual Cross Roads House Benefit by the Sea raised more than $615,000, contributing significantly to the shelter’s annual budget.

The annual fundraiser brought together 200 members of the Seacoast community at the Wentworth By the Sea to learn more about the current state of homelessness on the Seacoast and how Cross Roads House supports unhoused individuals and families.

Organizers noted the success of the May 4 event was due in no small part to the corporate and private sponsors who helped to underwrite the event. The list included lead sponsors AEMC, Lex Scourby and Jon Bobbett as well as Novocure, Service Credit Union, Gary and Karen DeStefano, the LeMay Family Goodworks Foundation, Seascape Capital Management, Bob Brown, Mary Lee Worboys and many others. Guests at the event were equally generous, with more than 50% of the room making pledges that surpassed the overall goal for the event.

“Tonight is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the good work and mission of Cross Roads House, a vital service to the Seacoast for more than 40 years,” Lissa Gumprecht, the organization's director of development and communications, said during her remarks. “As you can imagine, our work for those most vulnerable in our community has become more important than ever. Each of us here tonight shares a commitment to making a difference, raising our voices and moving towards real solutions for the very real crisis of homelessness.”
