More than a year after someone vandalized a historic building in downtown Portland, cleanup efforts are finally underway.
Someone vandalized the clocktower of the Jackson Building on the corner of Broadway and Yamhill, across from Pioneer Courthouse Square, in March of last year.
More than 14 months later, graffiti crews say the city is working with the building owner to get it cleaned up.
“The city is taking big steps to help this property owner do that too, from the mayor's office,” said Paul Watts, the owner of Graffiti Removal Services. “They're working with the owner to remove the graffiti because it is so precarious and in an area where so many people see it. They're trying to take steps to revitalize the city and this is a big step to doing that.”

He says it'll take 3 or 4 days to remove the graffiti. Since it's old ceramic, they have to wash every single brick by hand.
The 12-story building was built in 1912 and is on the national register of historic places.
