Portland Police and emergency responders were called to multiple overdoses on Friday, March 31. Officials say at least three deaths happened because of overdose, and several calls required multiple applications of Narcan to counteract the opiates.
Police say there were 11 calls between 10:29 a.m. and 11:08 p.m. of overdose medical emergencies.
Three of the 11 calls resulted in a death investigation. Officials say nearly all of the overdoses involved opioid narcotics, and they suspect at this time that the majority of them were a result of fentanyl use.
