A 35-year-old is facing a manslaughter charge after the person he’s accused of assaulting in East Portland died in the hospital.
Aaron Reed-Jones was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on first and second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and felon in possession of a firearm.
The charges stem from an incident that happened just before 8 p.m. at a convenience store in the 12100 block of East Burnside Street.
Officers say they arrived to find 62-year-old Curtis Davies had been assaulted and taken to the hospital.
Davies died five days later. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide by blunt force trauma.
Investigators identified Reed-Jones as a suspect in the case, and the U.S. Marshals Service helped PPB Homicide Unit detectives arrest him on March 29.
