Snow levels will remain low over the next couple of days, even getting down to 500 feet during the early morning hours of Saturday and Sunday.
Snow levels were around 1,000 feet Friday morning and stayed in the 1,000- to 1,500-foot range all day.
High elevation snow will be the story overnight Friday and into Saturday. Mountain passes are set to get another four to six inches of snow Friday night and Saturday. The Coast Range will get one to three inches of new snow.
Snow levels will dip to 500 feet.
“So the hills around here in the morning could see a light dusting of snow. We’re not looking at a lot of accumulation, and it is looking brief because most all of us will warm above 40 to 45 degrees,” said KATU Meteorologist Rhonda Shelby.
She said the pattern will likely repeat overnight Saturday and into Sunday.
Most of the travel difficulties will be in the Cascades and may be challenging for drivers heading to spring break destinations.
Travelers should be prepared for winter conditions.
Low snow levels brought some snow to the metropolitan area Friday morning, causing some school delays in northwest Oregon and southwest Washington.
