A Multnomah County grand jury has indicted a 28-year-old woman on a charge of second-degree attempted murder as well as many others in the stabbing of a TriMet bus driver last week, the district attorney’s office said Tuesday.
Police arrested Ana Karen Perez-Velador and 26-year-old Cody Christopher Richardson Monday, March 13.
Prosecutors allege Perez-Velador stabbed the bus driver in the leg near Northeast 27th Avenue and Saratoga Street after the driver asked her and Richardson to leave the bus because it had reached the end of its line.
The bus driver was able to escape through the driver’s-side window.
Beside the bus driver, Perez-Velador and Richardson were the only people on the bus.
In addition to the charge of second-degree attempted murder, the grand jury indicted Perez-Velador on second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and many others.
The bus driver was treated at a local hospital and released.
Charges against Richardson have not been announced.
