Friday was “Match Day,” when medical students across the country find out where they will be going for residency.
KATU news caught up with OHSU medical student Alexandra Levin, before she found out her match.
“I've wanted to do rural family medicine since before I started medical school and that is the place to do it. The family doctors there run everything from the hospital to the clinic to delivering all the babies and that's the way I want to learn and practice."
This graduating class had a unique med school experience, they had to spend about a year and a half doing remote work due to the pandemic.
Alexandra says they lost connection together as a class but started to regain momentum during rotations.
Alexandra wanted to watch her best friend open her envelope first, and then her own.
"I am very surprised because this process is just so.. umm.... nerve-wracking there are so many great candidates and you're competing against some of the most impressive people in the United States. My colleagues are those who can show just how incredible the people who train here are," says Nichole Rogovoy, who is headed to Dartmouth.
OHSU says more than 160 students participated in the match program and all of them were paired with a program.
