Portland nursing home faces COVID-19 surge

PORTLAND (WGME) -- A nursing home in Portland has seen a recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

Officials say More than 60 people have been infected since May 14 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence on Washington Avenue.
That includes 34 residents and 32 employees.
Currently, 14 residents and three staff members remain COVID-positive.
Visits at the 121-bed facility on Washington Avenue are currently restricted.
Staff members are being tested daily while residents are tested every other day, according to the Press Herald.

St. Joseph's says it has followed all of its COVID-19 protocols to reduce the spread of disease, including requiring COVID-positive staff members to isolate at home for 10 days.
