2 dogs rescued from burning home in Port St. Lucie, 1 placed on oxygen

Two dogs were pulled from a burning home, one needing to be put on oxygen.

On Wednesday, The St. Lucie County Fire District said a neighbor called stating heavy smoke was coming from a nearby home.

When firefighters arrived to the home on 5261 NW Ever Road sometime after 2 p.m., they said the occupants of the house were not present at the time but two dogs were trapped inside.

The dogs were pulled from the smoke-filled house, but one needed oxygen following the rescue. Luckily, both appeared to be doing better once the fire was contained.

Firefighters shared photos of the dogs following the fire.

The fire district said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
