A Florida man has been charged after he was pulled over in a stolen car and proceeded to bark at deputies.

Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 34-year-old Jeremy Peterson of Port Richey.

According to investigators, Peterson was driving a stolen car that at one point passed by deputies as they were engaged in a takedown of a drug suspect.

As deputies focused on the task, Peterson casually drove by. Deputies pulled the man over on a traffic stop a short time later, and Peterson had little to say but rather barked.

“No, really. He just barked. When the deputy asked him for identification, Peterson refused to comply and would only say that his name was “Dog” at which time he followed it with more barking,” said MCSO.

“Fortunately, K-9 Maverick was close by. He determined Peterson’s bark was not only a bit exaggerated, but the suspect was actually a car thief and definitely not a dog. Once the dog issue was cleared up, Peterson refused to cooperate again and said his name was really Jesus,” said MCSO.

Deputies say that neither the dog nor Jesus got him out of the arrest.

Once deputies got identification on Jeremy Jamarus Peterson, he was charged with Grand theft Auto and Resisting Arrest.
