Atlantic High School in Port Orange celebrates Class of 2023

Atlantic High School seniors flipped their tassels Wednesday night, signaling the transition from students to graduates, during the Class of 2023 commencement exercise at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.

Family and friends applauded loudly from the stands as 294 students received their diplomas.

And this year's graduating class has a lot to be proud of.

According to school officials, 35 students earned scholar designations; 145 earned merit designations; 11 received the Florida Seal of Biliteracy; five earned associate degrees; and 11 are joining the U.S. military.

Students earned 12,686 community service hours and were awarded a combined $1.2 million in scholarship monies.
