New details released in fatal motorcycle collision

VICOTIRA, Texas - The Victoria Police Department has released new details in the fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Friday night on North Navarro and Glascow.

VPD has confirmed that 20-year-old Xavier Smith, of Port Lavaca, was the man who died in the collision.

VPD responded to the crash around 11:50 p.m. and upon arrival, officers located a male on the ground with serious injuries and unresponsive.

Through preliminary investigation, officers determined the motorcycle was traveling southbound on North Navarro when a white sedan failed to yield the right of way to turn westbound on to Glascow, causing the motorcycle to strike the white sedan.

Due to the impact, the driver of the motorcycle, 20-year-old Xavier Smith, of Port Lavaca did not survive the crash.

The driver and passenger in the white sedan were transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
