Forty-one-year-old Aaron Schoenrock was arraigned on charges of assault with intent to murder and first-degree home invasion this week after Port Huron police said he stabbed another male who attempted to intervene in a dispute Saturday.

A 41-year-old man is facing two felonies after Port Huron police said he allegedly stabbed a subject attempting to intervene in a dispute in Port Huron’s northside Saturday.

Aaron Schoenrock was arraigned on charges of assault with intent to murder and first-degree home invasion on Monday afternoon. According to the St. Clair County District Court docket, he stood mute during the hearing, and no attorney was listed for Schoenrock as of Tuesday.

Port Huron Assistant Police Chief Brian Kerrigan said officers responded to the report of a male subject who was stabbed in the 1100 block of Elmwood Street around 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Once on scene, he said officers learned the suspect had fled, and that Tri-Hospital EMS assisted with the victim, who was transported to McLaren Port Huron

“The investigation revealed that the victim tried to intervene during a dispute and was stabbed,” Kerrigan said in an email. “Detectives identified the assailant as Aaron Schoenrock, and the Major Crimes Unit was able to locate him in a hotel parking lot in the 1700 block of Yeager Street. He was taken into custody without incident.”

The male victim was still hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday.

Judge Mona Armstrong set bond at $250,000 on Monday.

Schoenrock was lodged at the county jail. He’s next scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. June 13 for a probable cause conference and at 1:30 p.m. June 20 for an examination.

Assault with intent to murder is a felony punishable by imprisonment for life or any number of years, under state statute. First-degree home invasion is punishable by a maximum of 20 years, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
