PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Players is presenting the “backstage antics” of a play in “Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van” at the Langdon Theater.

It brings forward plenty of laughter, according to a news release.

“Written by Mary Lynn Dobson, the play includes an assortment of characters including a stressed director, an actor who wants to direct musicals imitating Quentin Tarantino, a choreographer who thinks ‘The Glass Menagerie’ should include a kick line, and a diva whose expiration date has long passed,” the news release states.

Jenni Elliott is directing the play and enjoys the comedy of it.

“The play had me rolling around with laughter the first time I read it, and every time since,” Elliott said. “The play takes place in a small community theater which has no backstage space, so the actors end up outside in the van. The audience will be treated to what goes on during their off-stage interactions, so prepare for some rollicking fun and entertainment.”
