Hooks hold batting practice aboard USS Lexington Memorial Day Weekend
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Hooks hosted one of their annual traditions during their Blue Ghost Weekend. The team headed to the flight deck of the USS Lexington for a batting practice. Players were able to get their practice in before Saturday night's game against the Arkansas Travelers. The team takes the field once again this weekend as the Blue Ghosts for part of their Memorial Day Weekend celebration.
AP Baseball Summer Camps to be offered in June
Two Aransas Pass Baseball Summer Camps will be held in June. A camp for youngsters entering grades 6-9 will be held June 10-12 at the Panther Baseball Field from 6 to 8 p.m. On June 24-26, a camp for those entering grades 1-5 will be conducted at the Panther Baseball Field from 6 to 8 p.m.

G-PISD students place well in state academic meet
The Gregory-Portland High School UIL Academic Team recently traveled to the state academic meet with two students earning top-five finishes in their respective events. During the competition that took place on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin, Gregory-Portland saw Lily Stuart finish as the Class 5A state silver medalist in the poetry competition to bring home the highest honor of the week for the Wildcats. Senior Mark Trevino also finished strong in Austin, finishing fourth in the Class 5A editorial writing contest.
