South Dakota man convicted in Fonner Park murder case
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Nearly a year and two months after a Lincoln man was killed at Fonner Park in Grand Island, a South Dakota man is convicted of murder. On Wednesday, 21-year-old Logan Hunts Horse of Wounded Knee, SD, pled guilty to second degree murder and no contest to use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. He will be sentenced July 30. Four related charges were dropped in a plea bargain, including another charge of use of a deadly weapon, use of a firearm to commit a felony, robbery and felony conspiracy.
Justice sought, frustration shared in Ashton Provost’s death
PINE RIDGE, S.D. (KELO) — Different people who gathered outside the Oglala Sioux Tribe Justice Center in Pine Ridge on Friday want justice for Ashton Provost, a young mother lost to gun violence in 2023. A man is in custody in the tribe’s jail, charged with second-degree homicide in her death. Allison Morrisette, the state’s missing and murdered indigenous persons coordinator, was on hand with the people at the justice center.
