No playoff jitters for Episcopal's young team.

Dominating off the draw from the start, the Eagles raced off to eight first-quarter goals and defeated St. Augustine 15-8 in Tuesday's Florida High School Athletic Association Region 1-1A girls lacrosse playoff at Jangro Stadium.

"Our draw team is probably one of the top in the state," Episcopal coach Krista Crittenden said. "Lilly Melograna takes the draw for us and she's really, really talented at placing it. And then we've got Brooke [McCoy] and Georgia [Tuttle], who have speed that's pretty unmatched."

McCoy led with seven goals, Bella Vitulli added four and Maeve O'Neil tallied three for the Eagles (11-7), who beat St. Augustine for the second time in April. Brooke Birkett led the Yellow Jackets (9-12) with four goals and Ana Lindsey notched three.

Episcopal advances to a home game on April 30 against Pensacola Catholic, after the Crusaders (20-2) won 14-8 against Bolles. The Bulldogs' year ends at 10-9.

Ponte Vedra had no difficulty in its playoff opener, cruising to a 19-0 shutout of West Florida (11-7). The top-seeded Sharks (12-7) will next play at home on April 30 against Gainesville Oak Hall.
