PC Arts Membership show winners announced

The Ponca City Arts Membership Show opened on Thursday, April 6 in the John McNeese Gallery in the City Central building at 400 E. Central, Suite 101. The show featured 97 pieces for art from 37 local artists.

Several artists presented media art forms which had not submitted previously. Additionally, several of the artists had not participated in prior shows including Adrill Hayes, Kayla Maxwell, Katherine Talkington, Elaine Hutchins, Seth Hammock, Jeremy Sacket, Pattie Lacefield, Jessica Thaxton-Ross, and Summer Walker.

Artists that have participated for more than five years were Grace Klinger, Dana Depperschmidt, Mindy Littlecook, Carl Petersen, Sharon Rorie, Jannie Ross, Ruth Loucks, Tom Schmid, Elaine Armstrong, and Betty Jean Jones.

The following are some of the winners and the titles of their pieces:

• Grace Klinger - Weasal - 3rd Place - Watercolor, Pro One judge, Jim Clements, expressed feeling impressed at the quality and wide scope of talents. He further stated that choosing to award ribbons was an extreme challenge because of the expertise represented.

Clements had previously hosted a painting workshop for the PC Arts studio group artists. Unlike other teachers, he wouldn’t hesitate to tell artists specifically how to apply paint, gave clear, concise directions along the way.
