Gunman Opens Fire and Flees with Children Following Terrifying Car Crash

Broward County, FL - A disturbing incident unfolded in Pompano Beach on Friday as a car collision escalated into gunfire, leading to the arrest of a man who attempted to flee the scene with two children.

The crash occurred on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard around 12:15 a.m., involving a blue Ford Fusion and a black Audi A4.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the Audi driver failed to yield the right of way, resulting in the collision.

The situation took a terrifying turn when the Audi driver retrieved a weapon and began shooting at the Fusion.

Disturbing footage captured the aftermath, showing both vehicles heavily damaged, with multiple bullet holes on the driver's side of the Fusion.

The shooter, identified as 32-year-old Ricardo Joseph, attempted to escape on foot with two young children.

However, law enforcement managed to apprehend him shortly following the shooting.

Joseph was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, displaying a firearm during a felony, child neglect, failure to remain at a crash scene, and resisting an officer.

As of Friday, Joseph remained in custody without bond.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries during Friday's shooting.

The Broward Sheriff's Office's Child Protective Investigation Section was contacted to ensure the well-being of the children found with Joseph.
