HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — Methamphetamine, a powerful and highly addictive stimulant, has been increasingly abused in recent years, becoming a popular drug of choice for many. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the number of methamphetamine-related deaths has risen dramatically, increasing by more than five times in the last decade.
On March 10th, Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit detectives conducted a traffic stop on US-33 near State Route 93, resulting in the arrest of Clayton Ohlinger, 42, of Pomeroy. During the stop, detectives utilized a K-9 unit to investigate the vehicle, which signaled the presence of narcotics. The detectives conducted a cause search of the vehicle and discovered approximately 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine, prescription narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.
Ohlinger was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Felony of the 3rd Degree, and was transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail to await arraignment in Hocking County Municipal Court.
