Man injured in one-vehicle crash on Interstate 86 in Pocatello

POCATELLO — A man was injured in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 86 in north Pocatello just west of the Flying Y interchange on Friday afternoon.

The man was driving a car westbound on Interstate 86 around 2:45 p.m. when the vehicle left the freeway and crashed, authorities said.

The man suffered injuries in the wreck and was transported via Pocatello Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment.

His name and condition have not been released.

An adult female passenger in the car was not injured, Idaho State Police said.

Early Friday evening the Idaho Transportation Department shut down Interstate 86 westbound and Interstate 15 southbound in the area of the Flying Y interchange while a tow truck removed the car.

The closures lasted for over an hour and backed up traffic for over a mile.

The crash remains under investigation by state police.
