    LOCAL ROUNDUP: Idaho State softball finally plays a home game, but loses to Weber State

    It was good and bad news for the Idaho State softball team Friday.

    The good news was that the Bengals finally were able to play a home game at Miller Ranch Stadium for the first time all season following several cancellations. But they saw their hopes of repeating as Big Sky Conference champions dashed with a 6-4 loss to Weber State.

    The nightcap of the doubleheader was then postponed due to lightning with the game tied at 6-6 in the top of the ninth inning. It will resume play at 2 p.m. Saturday with the third and final game in the series set to start immediately after.

    Camryn McDonald collected two of ISU’s (23-23 overall, 5-4 Big Sky) six hits on the day. One of those was on a home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning. She also drove in two runs.

    Gracie Smith also went yard with a shot to center field in the opening inning.

    Marley Goluskin fanned six batters, but gave up 12 hits to suffer the loss in the circle for the Bengals.

    HIGH SCHOOL

    BASEBALLMARSH VALLEY 14, AMERICAN FALLS 3, 5 INNINGSChandler Bennett hit not one, but two home runs for a game-high seven RBIs, as the Eagles (15-5, 3-0 3A South East Idaho Conference) picked up an impressive league win Friday.

    Ryker Gibson added three hits and Kutter Lish three RBIs for Marsh Valley in the win.

    Brock Aiken had two hits and drove in two runs for the Beavers (2-10, 0-4) in the loss.

    SODA SPRINGS 11, BEAR LAKE 10Will McCullough logged three hits, as the Cardinals (3-16, 1-1 2A South East Idaho Conference) survived a three-run seventh inning by the Bears for their first win in conference play Friday.

    Trey Dunford and Randy Stephens drove in three runs apiece for Soda Springs in the win.

    Peter Newton had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs for Bear Lake (1-12, 0-3) in the loss.

    SNAKE RIVER 3, TETON 2, 10 INNINGSRidg Allen hit an RBI double and Koye Calzada stole home in the 10th inning, as the Panthers (7-8, 2-1 3A South East Idaho Conference) won a nonconference marathon Thursday.

    It was one of Allen’s two hits and two RBIs on the day. Justin Wray also had two hits.

    Calzada and Talon Cherry combined to throw 18 strikeouts on the day. Calzada got the win on the bump and had the majority of the strikeouts with 11 for Snake River in the win.

    BLACKFOOT 11, SHELLEY 1, 5 INNINGSCole Robinson, Dax Whitney and Jace Cooper all tallied two hits each, as the Broncos (17-5, 13-2 4A High Country Conference) dominated in league play Thursday.

    Robinson and Whitney drove in three and two runs, respectively, for Blackfoot in the win.

    MARSH VALLEY 15, BEAR LAKE 1, 5 INNINGSTate Whitworth tallied three hits and drove in four runs, as the Eagles (14-5, 2-0 3A South East Idaho Conference) cruised in nonconference play Thursday.

    Chandler Bennett had three RBIs on a pair of doubles, while Ethan Anderson earned the win on the bump with his two-hit, eight-strikeout performance for Marsh Valley.

    Peter Newton had the only two hits of the game for the Bears (1-11, 0-2 2A South East Idaho Conference) in the loss.

    POCATELLO 11, PRESTON 1, 5 INNINGSAlex Winn did a little bit of everything for the Thunder (13-9, 5-1 4A South East Idaho Conference) Thursday night.

    He logged two hits, drove in two runs and even earned the win on the mound by allowing just six hits in leading Pocatello to a league win.

    Maddox Moore also had two hits, while Evan Giesbrecht drove in a pair of runs in the win.

    Klayton Hobbs was the only Preston (6-11, 2-4) player with more than one hit (two) in the loss.

    HIGHLAND 7, BONNEVILLE 3Mason Payne recorded three hits, including a double, and three RBIs, as the Rams (16-6, 10-0 5A District V-VI Conference) won their 10th game in a row Wednesday.

    Payne, along with Jackson Hale, Preston Foltz and Taylor Stringfellow all held the Bees to just four hits on the day. Payne ended up getting the win on the bump with a pair of strikeouts.

    BLACKFOOT ROLLS IN DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST SHELLEYCole Robinson totaled four hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs, as the Broncos (16-5, 12-2) had little troubles in a 12-5, 10-0 4A High Country Conference doubleheader sweep Wednesday.

    Dax Whitney drove in four runs, while Sy Callister and Weston Layton finished with three RBIs apiece. Callister also earned the win on the bump in the nightcap with his two-hit, four-strikeout shutout.

    SNAKE RIVER 20, AMERICAN FALLS 3, 5 INNINGSDante Santillan and Dallin Polatis notched three hits and two RBIs apiece, as the Panthers (6-8, 2-1) eased to a league win Wednesday.

    Talon Cherry drove in three runs for Snake River in the win.

    Cash Williams had two of the Beavers’ (2-9, 0-3) three hits in the loss.

    MALAD 10, BEAR LAKE 0, 6 INNINGSBrady Showell fanned 11 batters and gave up just two hits, as the Dragons (11-7, 3-0 2A South East Idaho Conference) cruised in league play Wednesday.

    Dawsyn Peterson and Ryan Hubbard had two hits apiece, while Sawyer Poulson drove in two runs for Malad in the win.

    Jack Hulme had a respectable outing on the bump with four strikeouts to just six hits for the Bears (1-10, 0-2) in the loss.

    POCATELLO DOWNS PRESTON IN LEAGUE DOUBLEHEADERGarett Keller, Kache Stucki and Kudter Stucki all totaled four hits each, as the Thunder (12-9, 4-1) won a 20-5, 10-2 conference doubleheader Wednesday.

    Kache Stucki also picked up the win on the hill in the nightcap with seven strikeouts.

    Martin Serrano and Seth Snyder drove in three runs apiece for Pocatello.

    Austin Gleed had two hits and Conner Thomson drove in two runs for the Indians (6-10, 2-3) in the loss.

    MARSH VALLEY SWEEPS CENTURY

    Ruger Scott totaled four hits, as the Eagles (13-5, 2-0) took a 4-3, 12-0 doubleheader over the Class 4A Diamondbacks Wednesday.

    Scott also got the win on the mound by throwing a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the nightcap.

    Tate Whitworth added three hits and three RBIs. Chandler Bennett hit a line drive two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the opener for Marsh Valley. Tuff Solomon allowed just five hits and tossed 11 strikeouts in the opener.

    Ben Call was the only Century (6-14, 2-14 4A South East Idaho Conference) player to have more than one hit between the two games with two.

    SOFTBALL

    MARSH VALLEY 11, AMERICAN FALLS 1, 6 INNINGS

    Paige Greenwell went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs, as the Eagles (12-7, 3-0 3A South East Idaho Conference) eased to a conference win Friday.

    Shelby Scharfen earned the win in the circle by allowing just four hits and striking out 11.

    Lydia Howell had three hits, Kallie Dahlke three RBIs and Mya Anderson a pair of triples for Marsh Valley in the win.

    PRESTON FALLS TO IDAHO FALLS IN DOUBLEHEADER

    Sydney Cleverley totaled three hits, including a double and three RBIs, as the Indians (3-10, 1-3 4A South East Idaho Conference) lost a 9-5, 10-6 nonconference doubleheader Friday.

    Carlie Madsen, Averie Madsen and Raegan Hansen all had three hits for Preston in the loss, too.

    BEAR LAKE 10, SODA SPRINGS 4

    Hallie Bruce chalked up three hits, including a double, and three RBIs, as the Bears (9-11, 2-2 2A South East Idaho Conference) won in league play Friday.

    Brooklynn Crockett led the defensive effort by limiting the Cardinals (6-10, 2-2) to just five hits and striking out six for Bear Lake.

    Ana Davis had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run for Soda Springs in the loss.

    POCATELLO 10, CENTURY 0, 5 INNINGS

    Miah Lusk allowed just three hits and fanned nine batters in the circle, as the Thunder (15-3, 5-0 4A South East Idaho Conference) remained unbeaten in league play Thursday.

    Taylee Rogers had two hits and two RBIs. Oakley Hirschi also drove in a pair of runs for Pocatello in the win.

    Tess Ramirez’s double was one of only three hits for the Diamondbacks (6-14, 1-4) in the loss.

    HIGHLAND SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH RIGBY

    Jennaleigh Whitehead and Olyvia Bobish both drove in a combined three runs apiece, as the Rams (4-18, 2-8 5A District V-VI Conference) won the opener 17-1 before dropping the nightcap 18-2 to split a conference doubleheader Thursday.

    Bobish had the only hit for Highland in the nightcap.

    MARSH VALLEY 15, BEAR LAKE 0, 5 INNINGS

    Paige Greenwell racked up three hits, including a double, for an RBI, as the Eagles (11-7, 2-0 3A South East Idaho Conference) rolled in nonconference play Thursday

    Morgan Ketner added two hits and a game-high four RBIs. Lydia Howell limited the Bears to just two hits and fanned six batters for Marsh Valley in the win.

    Addy Ure and Caylee Culver had the only two hits for Bear Lake (8-11, 1-2 2A South East Idaho Conference) in the loss.

    TETON 12, SNAKE RIVER 2, 5 INNINGS

    Hailee Nash had two hits, including a double, as the Panthers (10-8, 2-1 3A South East Idaho Conference) dropped a nonconference game Thursday.

    MALAD 11, BEAR LAKE 0

    Riglee Peterson tossed a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts, as the Dragons (17-0-1, 3-0 2A South East Idaho Conference) extended their unbeaten streak to 49 games with a conference win Wednesday.

    Hallie Horsley had two hits and drove in three runs. Aubrey Shulz also put up a multiple RBI game with two in the win for Malad.

    Hallie Bruce recorded the only hit of the game for the Bears (8-10, 1-2) in the loss.

    IDAHO FALLS 11, BLACKFOOT 10, 9 INNINGS

    Oaklee Vanorden bagged two hits, including a double, and three RBIs, as the Broncos (11-8, 5-3 4A High Country Conference) just fell in extra innings in a conference game Wednesday.

    Quincy Cronquist also had two hits to go along with a pair of RBIs for Blackfoot in the loss.

    SNAKE RIVER 8, AMERICAN FALLS 6

    Daisy Dance hit a walk-off two-run line drive triple to center field, to give the Panthers (9-8, 2-1) a conference win Wednesday.

    Dance went 4-for-5, including a triple and a double, for a pair of RBIs. Hailee Nash and Tallee Carter had three hits apiece for Snake River in the win.

    Halli Lott came within a triple of hitting for the cycle by going 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs for the Beavers (1-9, 0-3 3A South East Idaho Conference) in the loss.

    SODA SPRINGS 22, WEST SIDE 5, 3 INNINGS

    Aspen Davis chalked up three hits, including a home, for a game-high seven RBIs, as the Cardinals (6-8, 2-1) made quick work of the Pirates in league play Wednesday.

    Ana Davis and Chelsey Oliver drove in four and three runs, respectively, for Soda Springs in the win.

    TENNIS

    CENTURY 10, SUGAR-SALEM 2

    The Diamondbacks walked away victorious in nonconference play Wednesday thanks to the boys team not dropping so much as a single match in a 6-0 win. They’re now 9-1 on the season.

    Max Sheng led the way by not dropping a single set in his 6-0, 6-0 win over Ben Owens in No. 1 singles.

    The brother duo of Daniel/Liam McGee also looked impressive with their 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 1 boys doubles.

    On the girls’ side Bel Miller and Payton Latin each earned wins in singles. Century also swept the mixed doubles points with wins by the teams of Tiden Lynn/Kate Spicer and Shep Butler/Macie Sutton.
