POCATELLO — Independent concert promoter Nederlander Concerts recently announced a multi-year agreement with Bannock County to book and promote performances at the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheatre.

The Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheatre, or The Port for short, has gifted the Gate City Area with hard rock musical acts like Korn and Papa Roach, quintessential classic acts such as The Beach Boys and country megastars like Keith Urban and Dwight Yoakam since 2015. The venue, located at 2375 Olympus Drive in Pocatello, also serves as a space for comedians like the successful Jim Gaffigan and as a community hub for a multitude of local events.

The deal between Bannock County and the Southern California-based Nederlander Concerts is for exclusive programming and consulting at The Port.

“With The Port in Pocatello, we’re able to give artists, managers and agents three different-sized venues in one, allowing for broad market reach and booking capabilities,” said Alex Hodges, CEO of the Nederlander Concerts. “The history and configuration of the venue provides optional goals and capacities. Our mission is to offer a wide variety of genres — diversify the bands and audiences. The Port is a first-class routable location for any national tour that includes the Northwest, and we’ll work with any and all promoters, regional or otherwise.”

The Port serves as a full-service venue with adaptable capacity. Smaller, more intimate shows can seat 2,000 patrons with the ability to house 4,000 to 10,000 for the bigger concerts and shows. The nearly 3,500 square foot stage can accommodate all varieties of entertaining acts.

“By partnering with Nederlander, we’ll be able to diversify the artists we bring to Pocatello so that all members of our community can enjoy live entertainment at our beautiful venue,” said Scott Crowther, Bannock County’s Event Director.

The Port also provides four comfortable dressing rooms with two special VIP rooms, production offices, a loading dock with two bays, a fully equipped kitchen and food and beverage facilities along with plenty of parking spaces.

“We’re very optimistic about our partnership and what Nederlander will bring to The Port,” Bannock County Commissioner Jeff Hough said. “Our goal is to make The Port a destination venue and this partnership is a big step in that direction. I’m so excited for the next few seasons as they help us work towards that goal.”

Post-COVID highlights include Falling in Reverse in 2022, as well as Jon Pardi, Chris Young and Ian Munsick, among others, in 2023.

The community events in 2023 included local high school graduations, a “Yoga at The Port” event for Healthy City, USA, and a recital for the local gymnasium, Randy’s Tumbling.

From mid-May through mid-October, residents from near and far can enjoy live music, comedy acts and family entertainment provided by The Port and Nederlander Concerts. From the annual fireworks show to the tranquil lake perfect for peaceful bike rides and fishing, the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheatre is sure to provide plenty of fun for everyone across Idaho.
